THE WAVES OF A MOVEMENT

The women's movement is often referred to as "in waves".
The first wave was started by the suffrage's and was focused on the right to vote.
The second wave was focused on abortion rights and equal pay.
The third wave is focused on looking at our past and building a good future.
All of these "waves" are much more involved than just the basics that I am listing here, but I guess what I am wondering is why does it have to be referred to as "in waves"?
Why can't what women, feminist or anybody that is concerned with women's rights, equal pay or just plain equality for all just be involved and want to change things?
Why can't we all just unite, come together and accomplish something wonderful that would benefit everybody?
It shouldn't matter our sex, race, skin color, size shape or sexual orientation.
We should ALL be able to just live peacefully together.

  1. I love the referral to our movements as being waves. Poetry in motion...like a wave out on the ocean...when I watch the waves come in, or go out for that matter, there is a continuous movement to them. Even when the water appears to be smooth as glass there is still a current that is at work. When I look at our "Waves of Feminism" in action, I see in them a smooth yet steady current working. They say that still waters run deep. If this is the case, I envision the work set into motion by every woman in herstory as being that strong force beneath the waves we are riding today. The 'waves' we are making today will be part of that strong current that will continue to carry not only our daughters but our sons into the future...a future where equality for all is not just some words on paper but a way of life.

  2. I am proud to be a part of something much bigger than myself. I find it so interesting that there are so many of us who are a part of this wave of feminism yet there appear to be an equal number of those who are against it. Somethings gotta give,

  3. We will...give examples of how & why it is so important to come to a concensus on equal rights. I really see a significant shift in attitudes regarding the why part...people are sick and tired and taxed to tears. It is the how part of things this wave of feminism is going to be known for. I personally use every resource I have and borrow much from others arsenals to arm people--not with guns but with usable-doable means to be the difference they want to see. As we continue to educate, enlighten, and empower those seeking to change the way things are in their world...we will see big change around the world!
